Description: This is a relatively large handmade brooch, signed 1997 Danielle Berlin, made with sterling silver (tested) and what I believe is bronze (not tested but has a more golden color than just copper alone). While it may appear at first to be a somewhat 2D design,upon closer inspection this shoe reveals a subtle and thoughtful dimensionality, mainly because of the curved (open) strap and shoe, as well as the flower and layered accents. Great early work by a great artist! (There is a brief note about the artist below.) Wear: This is a vintage, well-loved brooch, with wear that I believe adds to its character. Once I figured out that this was a Danielle Berlin piece (now Danielle Gori-Montanelli) I delved into her magnificent work and was so glad I did....I already loved this piece and was pleasantly surprised to see that she evolved from metalwork pieces into a fantastic world of felt jewelry (or wearable whimsical art!). Her quality felt work is in galleries around the US and has been exhibitied in art shows in many major cities...including London. Please keep this artist on your radar. Her work is magical!
