Description: Melanie, Susan Wakeen Ballerina Doll Original Porcelain Artist Doll Like New MIB. This beautiful, 16” full-porcelain body ballerina doll is named Cynthia made in 1986. She is a Susan Wakeen’s “Littlest Ballet Company" doll, handmade by Susan herself (NOT in China by Danbury Mint). This ballerina is numbered 226/375 and her tag is still attached to her wrist. She was made in the USA.Susan has been honored with over 50 awards and nominations for excellence in doll making. She received the 1985 Doty Award for Collectible Costume Doll.Cynthia's young face is very sweet and Susan painted her face paint herself. She has blue glass eyes with full eyelashes. Cynthia even has painted fingernails. Hand-engraved on the back of her neck "Melanie, 226/375 1986 S. Wakeen". Cynthia's hair is red, and long curly hair with bangs and a pink bow on top. She wears pearl earrings and a pearl necklace. Her outfit is a pink satin costume with a pink tulle flowy skirt and adorned with beads, lace, silk ribbon, and roses on the bodice. She also has white leggings. She wears toe ballet shoes and even the soles of her toe shoes have felt padding sewn to the bottom to give it a very realistic look. You can pose her arms to give her different ballerina poses. Cynthia is in pristine, like new condition. She comes with her original clear acrylic stand and her original box (time has discolored the box but it is still serviceable), tag and registration card (not sure if you can still mail it in or not.) I am the original owner. I purchased Melanie in 1986, and I've taken classes from Susan so I know she's a real person, and I know she made this doll.From a smoke-free home.
