Description: DO REMEMBER, that although these plants are tolerant of lower temperatures, they are not hardy until in the ground and well established with new roots. I do not ship outside of the United States. Be mindful of cold temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. They are not hardy until well established in the ground. In warmer zones, Crinum flowers persists most of the year. The Crinum plant is a member of the amaryllis family. It is mostly limited to USDA plant hardiness zones 9-11, where they function as evergreen perennials with long lasting flowers. The foliage colors range from bronze green to burgundy with leather like leaves that grow 4 to 5 feet long and up to 6 inches wide. The spider-like flowers are stunning and grow on sturdy very rigid spikes called scapes. The resilient Crinum lily bulbs are known to exist and keep blooming for decades as far north as zone 7 depending on the species and local conditions. Crinum are heat and moisture loving plants, that flourish in a well draining soil. For best results, they should be mulched using manure and fertilized with a balanced fertilizer twice a year to maximize growth potential. Crinum produce an abundant array of showy flowers in summer but are capable of producing flowers all through the year in Tropical and Subtropical locations throughout the world. Traditionally they were grown in gardens of southern plantations; many still exist in those areas, overtaken by swamps and bogs. The plant is often referred to as the southern swamp lily, spider lily, or Poison Bulb. Beautiful when grown as a centerpiece or a border plant. My Crinum Lily is nearly 7ft tall and over 5ft wide and blooms faithfully throughout the year sending a delicately sweet floral aroma poolside which creates a beautiful, relaxing energy when sunning. The plant can be reproduced by the seeds called bulbils that form on the end of the flowering stalk. The stalk with the bulbils at the end of the flowering cycle eventually become dried out and will collapse under the weight of the mature seeds which will fall next to the mother plant and provide for the development of new volunteer plants which can easily be dug up to start new Crinum. Pups (young plants) can also sometimes form at the base of the root structure which can be separated to propagate new plants. Bulbs can also be dug from the base of the roots which can be replanted to form new plants. Natures perfect reproductive machine. BEAUTIFUL!! Note that with this order you will also receive 4 free live seeds (BULBILS) !!! This will allow you to have extra plants as a back up or give to friends to share the beauty of this gorgeous plant from nature.
