Description: A RARE US ARMY SCOUT REGULATION 1881 DRESS HELMET. THIS HELMET IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND IS CORRECT AND ORIGINAL WITH THE PROPER DEVICES. THE RED AND WHITE PLUME IS SUPERB AND FULL. THE HELMET CORDS ARE ORIGINAL US SCOUT PATTERN BUT MOST UNFORTUNATELY SOMEONE AT SOME POINT DYED THESE A SORT OF LIGHT RED COLOR. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY PICTURE SHOWING THE SIDE SLIDE THAT I MOVED TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE IN COLOR.THE OVERALL SHAPE IS SUPERB. WITH MINOR CRACKS ON THE LEATHER BOTTOM EDGING WITH NONE MISSING. ON THE INSIDE THE VISOR LINER (GREEENISH LEATHERETTE) SHOWS A COUPLE OF TEARS/CRACKS AS SHOWN. THE LEATHER SWEATBAND IS FIRMLY ATTACHED TO THE BODY. I DID NOT FOLD IT OUT TO CHECK FOR CONTRACT DATE SO AS TO AVOID DAMAGING THE THIN LEATHER.I WILL INCLUDE IN THIS SALE A REPRODUCTION US SCOUT DRESS HELMET CORD SET.
