David Foote. These black and white photos date from the 1970s. In examining his work you can see that he was greatly influenced by Ansel Adams, the Westons, and other well-regarded local artists working in the same area at that time. The collection includes 5 signed photos mounted on matboard, plus three 2" thick 3-ring binders filled with unmounted and unsigned 8" x 10"s. I haven't counted how many photos there are in all---there's a lot! They are stored in plastic sleeves---several in each. There are duplicates, but there are still a lot! One of the signed photos has a handwritten note on the back with a quote from the poet Robinson Jeffers (another local). For the most part the scenes are landscapes of the Monterey Bay area, but there also appear to be some of Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I didn't remove the 8 x 10s from the plastic sleeves to photograph them, so his images look a lot crisper / sharper than my renderings.
