Description: This book is a fascinating piece of history that recounts the repair of the Cockatoo Docks in Sydney during World War II. Published in 1939, this paperback book is a first edition. At the outbreak of war Cockatoo was the only large shipbuilding and marine engineering works in the country and the ‘incalculable benefit’ of its wartime achievements in maintenance and repair of allied naval forces is documented in this book. Unfortunately, there is a fair amount of water damage to the top of many of the pages. Please look at the photos. You can also see that the cover is worn but the picture that is attached to the cover is in very good condition. It’s a great, watercolor painting print.
