Description: Most of the seeds will produce 6" to 8" Red Coxcomb coral shaped blooms. Some of the seeds will produce abundant groups of red plumes. They will grow and maintain their shape and color until the temperature drops in the fall. Start seeds shallow in soil after the last frost. They will grow in about any soil, but adding a little compost to the soil will help their growth. Sprinkling seeds on top of the soil bed works well. Try to space the seeds at 4" to 6" apart to allow plant growth. The seeds need sunlight to germinate so just tap them gently into the soil. The warmer the soil the faster they will germinate. Water regularly until they sprout. These plants do not transplant well, so starting them indoors may not give you many blooms. The bright crimson color attracts many pollenators to the garden. Once they have bloomed for the summer and start to die off in the fall, they will re-seed your area for the next spring's crop.
