Description: On offer is a Clerc Icon 8 power reserve Swiss automatic fine timepiece from my extensive collection of watches. Clerc watches was founded by the esteemed brand's namesake (Gerald Clerc) in 1874 in Geneva Switzerland. The brand experienced a notable rebirth within the Haute Horology segment of the Swiss watch industry in the 2000's securing a bevy of celebrity "friends of the brand" as the face of its highly visible marketing campaigns. Like many other lauded brands within the highly competitive Swiss watch industry, the relaunch of the Clerc brand proved to be short lived. While the Clerc brand's run was brief, it can however be said that its watches were and are of the highest levels of watchmaking design and ingenuity. The Icon 8 Series yielded an impressive array of unique and high end characteristics while boasting a host of various complications. The Icon 8 which I am offering for acquisition is beautiful as its design was superbly executed by its creative designers. The timepiece is in excellent condition and has been rarely worn by me since purchased. At the heart of this beautiful watch is a remarkably highly decorated Swiss ETA (2892-A2 movement with a power reserve complication and indicator located just above the 6 O'clock position on the uniquely designed dial. The ornately decorated movement is fully visible via the watch's exhibition caseback. While nearly all Clerc timepieces are well known to boast high quality genuine exotic skin and leather straps, many of these straps however possess a fundamental manufacture's flaw which is: "The section of the crocodile leather straps which attach to the case lugs tends to fray, wear thin and become weakened." This issue is no exception with this Icon 8 on offer as is clearly visible in the several images I have included for visual inspection by a prospective buyer who may which to acquire what is otherwise a very robust, fully functioning and reliable high quality timepiece. Replacement straps for the Icon 8 are difficult to locate (yet not entirely impossible via the internet) To enjoy the watch I have chosen to devise a work around to this issue by reattaching the frayed portions of the strap by applying a strong epoxy glue which has enabled me to wear the timepiece with no issues under normal wear and with little concern relating to the watch being securely attached to the wrist. Having explained all of this however (concerning the strap) "IF YOU SHOULD BE FORTUNATE TO ACQUIRE THIS TIMEPIECE, IT IS HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGED BY YOU "THE BUYER" THAT I "THE SELLER" IN NO WAY IMPLIES, PROMISES, REPRESENTS OR GUARANTEES THAT THE WATCH'S STRAP WILL ENSURE SAFE WEARING OF THE WATCH BY THE WEARER/BUYER IN TERMS OF THE WATCH REMAINING SAFELY ATTACHED/AFFIXED TO THE WEARER'S WRIST BY THE FAULTY WATCH STRAP. AN ISSUE WHICH HAS BEEN EXTENSIVELY DESCRIBED IN THIS DESCRIPTION OF THE WATCH." In the interest of providing an example of how fine the watch is (aside from the band issue) I have included images which show how well and functionally the timepiece wears/appears on the wrist. Again the band is overall in otherwise fine condition save for the aforementioned worn portion(s) of the otherwise attractive strap. The deployant clasps function as they should and there is no problem with their properly functioning. The remaining of the two strap keepers has considerably thinned however both can be very inexpensively replaced. Well! I believe the entire story has been told and in summation "This is truly a beautiful timepiece which was seminally crafted by Clerc and all of its mechanical features flawlessly function as they were designed to operate (i.e. the crown, hands, power reserve indicator, etc.) Moreover, the watch's case is exceptionally robust and it aesthetically accentuates the overall beauty of this watch's artistic design. This timepiece upon its initial launch commanded a $5,500.00 MSRP. Considering all relevant market factors which were in play during the period which this timepiece was strategically released to the Haute Horology sector of the Swiss watch industry, one can sagely opine that this MSRP was not at all unreasonable. The price at which I am offering this Clerc Icon 8 is conservative particularly in consideration of its excellent condition. A vast majority of numerous examples of this watch offered for sell are at best in fair-to-good condition. One needs only to hone in on the vivid images I have captured and provided to determine that this particular example has not been abused but rather it has been well kept! The hefty and finely crafted watch case and outer box in which the watch was originally presented is included in the purchase!
