This usually happens when the battery pack is a few years old, OR if the power supply is left plugged in a long time after the charging light turns GREEN. It only take about 2 hours to charge the battery to full, when the charging light goes from RED to GREEN, unplug power supply right away so battery pack can continue to works for a long time. Buying this new battery pack will fix that and will allow the drill to runs without being plugged-in as long as it has been charged.
