Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of the supplies in my collection. Hasegawa will have a blow-out sale every now and then, through their distributors. That is a very good time to stock up on things you need, as well as things you don’t yet know that you need. I did this a few times and have quite a few duplicates that I can part with (to make room for the next sale). This item is one of Hasegawa’s line of Self-Adhesive Films that can be cut to shape and applied just like a layer of paint. This stuff is not just colored film because I believe they use a vapor deposition process to transfer the color to the polyfilm carrier, resulting in flawless color characteristics. The process is widely used in the electronics industry and is much more consistent than an airbrush. If you have ever wished that your clear part had a blue tint (like for the top part of a windshield or a light’s lens) then this could be your solution. The sheet is 200mm (almost 8”) by 90mm (about 3.5”), so you can do lots of small things or a few big things. The defunct Hasegawa site showed this product has been retired (Out of Production), so you may have a hard time finding this in the future. Fortunately, I have a small stash that I can share. There are a couple of reviews out there for this line of products. Sean Hert has a review on modelwarships.com of the White Finish (HAS #71811) and Roger Rasor has one on ipmsusa3.org of the Red Finish (HAS #71812). These two reviews should apply, in general, to any of the colors offered. This film sheet is in a clear package about 8” x 3.5” x 0.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is in excellent shape and has not been opened (although it was never sealed), so I consider it factory fresh and absolutely gift-ready.
