Description: After a bit more than 60 years of collecting coins, it is time to move the collection alone. From my ancient coin collection is a nice bronze CLAUDIUS II, Gothicus who was emperor from 268-270 AD. This is an 18mm in diameter AE Antonioni (C265, RIC-98). The coin retains good detail on the obverse and less on the reverse. A stylized drawing is included at the ends of the pics to see what this would look like if it was museum quality (which it of course is not!). On the obverse is Claudius II radiate and draped bust right with the legend IMP C CLAVDIVS. On the reverse is Roman diety Salus, the goddess of safety and health, standing left, feeding a snake rising from an altar, with a Panera in right hand and a scepter in the left. The legend which is not fully readible on this one, is SALVS AVG. As I got this one a while back, I can offer it at a good price and offer FREE SHIPPING to within the US.
