Description: This is an exceptionally nice wheelset built and sold by Rivendell Bicycle Bicycle Works around 1999ish and ridden a couple dozen miles since then. The hubs are Phil Wood 7 speed and the rims are the venerable Mavic MA-2. If you were reading Rivendell Readers around the turn of the century, you may remember Grant writing about the availability of the MA-2 rim and 6/7 speed freewheels with increasing alarm in every issue. His fears of freewheels disappearing were assuaged when IRD came out with nice, wide-range 7sp freewheels (a fresh one is included with these wheels!), but the MA-2 disappeared forever. You just can't get rims this nice anymore. This was likely from one of the last batches Rivendell got before the rim supply dried up completely. 36 spokes front and rear. The stickers are in pretty good shape. Check out the photos! Also included are some Compass-branded 32mm slick tires and Italian quick release skewers. One is Campagnolo, and the other is Gnutti. Gnutti parts, if you don't remember them, were very similar to Campagnolo, but sligtly Gnuttier. 130mm OLD in the rear, but easily convertible to other standards.
