Description: Up for sale is an excellent SERVICED/CLAed (Cleaned/Lubed/Adjusted) example of the legendary Kodak MEDALIST II Medium format range finder film camera. This 1941 model, which produces 6x9cm negatives on 620 roll film, is the successor to the original Kodak Medalist and improved on its predecessor by introducing flash sync via its Flash Supermatic shutter and added full coating to its legendary EKTAR 100mm f/3.5 lens, an optic known for its incredible sharpness and rendering. This particular example is in nice condition with light-moderate use wear, minor corrosion/patina, and the original owner's social security number engraved on the viewfinder housing (see pics) Optically, the camera is in excellent condition with minor cleaning marks to the front lens element coatings and free of deep glass scratches/haze/fungus. This item has been disassembled and CLAed (cleaned/lubed/adjusted) with the following services conducted:removal and internal/external of lens elements disassembly, cleaning, relube, reassembly, and calibration of Flash Supermatic Shutterdisassembly and cleaning of top and bottom platesinternal cleaning, relubrication, and calibration of rangefinder mechanism, leaving a very clear view through main viewfinder and rangefinder windows (minor desilvering to rangefinder prisms apparent as a couple of tiny dark specks). cleaning and relubrication of focus helical and internal guides and linkages film compartment cleaningcleaning/relubrication of film transport and rewind mechanismsIncludes original leather half case (strap not original) and ONE 620 takeup spool. NOTE: this camera takes 620 film spools rather than the more common and slightly larger-diameter 120 style film spools used in more modern MF cameras. 620 spooled film can be purchased from the Film Photography Project website or B+H online, or you can respool 120 film onto 620 spools in a dark bag or darkroom setting. Some photographers choos to cut down the slightly-wider spool ends on 120 spools to fit the 620 compartment or have their MEdalists re-machined to accept to 120 spools without modification, a service certain camera techs on tech web offer. If you need information on either of these optios, feel free to contact me, and I can point you in the right direction.
