Description: Civil War token 630-BX 2z(ap), R-8, store card type, of merchant Wm. Thierbach, 1863. The token of this merchant most often shows up in zinc, with the varying amounts of oxidation. This token, struck in zinc and then copper plated, likely looked like a lot of copper issues at the time it was made. The token in hand has lost all but a few minute specks of the copper on the obverse. Those are just visible at the right angle, near the tops of some of the feathers of the headdress and just above it. With close examination a few other tiny flecks can be seen. However, on the reverse, a large percent of the copper layer is still easily visible, verifying which piece this token is. Rare piece in this composition in any grade.
