Description: Civil war token 5/288 b, patriotic type, struck in brass. The obverse shows a head of "LIBERTY" to the left. stars around, and the date, 1863, below. The reverse shows a wreath with a small shield at the bottom center, and a star at the top center. The color is an attractive original, lightly toned brass color. The surface still some luster as light is moved across the piece, most visible around the protected areas of the lettering/wreath, and going from there out into the fields. The surfaces and colors do not seem to indicate any cleaning.
