Description: Chubu China Cup & Saucer Occupied Japan 1946-1952 Hand Painted w/Gold Outlining Exquisite Decorative CUP & SAUCER Set, Colorful Hand Painted GREEN, MAGENTA, RED, & BROWN Caladium Leaves on WHITE w/RAISED GOLD, from Chubu China in OCCUPIED Japan, circa 1946-1952 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful hand painted cup & saucer set was produced with delicate gold outlines on colorful caladium leaves on white. This is surrounded by the a most delicate gold scrollwork on a deep red band at the rims. The rims, including the 8-footed pedestal of the cup, and the cup's handle are trimmed in gold. The cup and saucer are both smooth rimmed. The design looks so classic. This makes a beautiful display set or can be used everyday as a functional set. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks. The only wear we see to the gold is on the bottom tip of the handle. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The cup has a diameter of 4 1/8" with a height of 2 3/8". It has a capacity of 6 ounces. The deep saucer has a diameter of 5 7/8" and a height of 7/8". HISTORY/MARKS: Chubu China was located in the Chubu region of Japan on the main island. The website marks4ceramics cites the mark on the bottom of this set as mark #1 used 1930’s-1970’s. The circa is 1946-1952 since this is marked as occupied Japan.
