Description: Christmas Eve is a Maxfield Parrish illustration featured on a Brown & Bigelow Christmas card salesman sample. The card is 5 1/4" x 7 5/8" and is in very good condition. Each card has a scrape on the back where it looks as if it were torn from the original salesman sample backing. Maxfield Parrish had a significant and long-lasting relationship with the Brown & Bigelow calendar company, beginning in the 1920s. Brown & Bigelow, a prominent producer of advertising calendars, commissioned Parrish to create artwork that would be used in their widely distributed calendars. His collaboration with the company helped make his art even more accessible to the public, as the calendars were sold and displayed in homes and businesses across America. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
