Description: Staffordshire Childs Toy Dinner Set Trio DIMITY ~ RED FLOW BLUE and GREENThomas Dimmock England 1840 This is a scarce trio of miniature transferware plates c1840, originally part of complete miniature children's dinner sets. The doll size collection includes three graduated plates measuring 2-1/2 inches, 3 inches and 3-1/2 inches across. Well potted, to the standards usually only seen in full-size Staffordshire table wares, transfer printed respectively in cobalt flow blue, red and green, with an overall star or snowflake sheet print and a contrasting scroll border trim, finished with pearlware glaze. The plates are unmarked. Sometimes found marked with the embossed initials of the maker, Thomas Dimmock, a well known pottery maker in the Staffordshire region of England from 1828-1859. The pattern name is "DIMITY". A very popular pattern, documented in Doris Lechler's English Toy China as pattern #87. The set is in overall very good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor typical manufacturing imperfections -- transfer skips and blobs -- original to the making, adding to the charm and authenticity. Impeccably made. Sold as is, as shown.
