Printers and Printing How-To Instructions (Waterslide) __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Please do not hesitate to ask about availability in additional scales or colours! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1. Custom and OEM Decals As per our name, Custom Hobby Decals offers Hobbyists the opportunity to order full custom decals, not just our stock decals available via eBay and retail outlets. We provide both full design-and-print and print-only services, starting from a single decal sheet. CHD does not intend to be the cheapest supplier of custom print decals (we do not use ALPS or Oki / Uninet CMYW laser printers), as we provide a high resolution (900 x 900dpi or 720 x 1440 dpi), high-quality product that is printed on the premium waterslide or vinyl media … including the ability to print both translucent and fully-opaque WHITE. We also provide the ability to print METALLIC colours (eg Bright Silver, Flat Silver, Gold, …). Custom products may attract charges for (i) an Artwork Admin fee; and / or (ii) a Custom Print fee. PP&H charges also apply as per our standard rates. Please note: * Once custom artwork has been prepared and approved by the Client, NO refunds are available on that component. * Once the artwork is printed, NO refunds are available on that component. * Once the custom product is shipped, NO refunds are available on PP&H.2. Other Scales We initially released our decal sets in those scales we believe Hobbyists will be most interested in. That said, we are normally happy to make our products available in any scale required. If you do not see the product you require available on the scale you require: PLEASE ASK! 3. Custom Colours CHD offers the option of [CUSTOM COLOUR' in many products, to allow you to specify a non-standard colour scheme. The ability to order a CUSTOM COLOUR attracts an additional cost (listed in the price offered) as we have to update artwork and then run a CUSTOM PRINT-RUN to produce those decals. Note: Conditions applyCUSTOM decals are non-refundable and, whilst we do our best to provide the particular colour requested, our selection of colour is final once the decals are printed. 4. Brand Names & CopyrightCertain of our decals may contain Brand Names and/or Trademarks (eg "FORD", "KENWORTH", "MACK", etc) which remain the property of their respective existing owners. Their inclusion does not imply or otherwise convey a relationship between CHD and those entities.Such items are reproduced with our decal sets purely to enable the Hobbyist to restore existing licenced markings when repainting or restoring models. Decals of such markings may not be used for other purposes. 5. Illustrative Image(s) for eBay ListingsImages of our decal sheets in this listing (and other) incorporate a typically green or pink background to enable easy viewing of white and light-coloured artwork. This is not the colour of our actual waterslide decals which, unless specifically otherwise stated, are printed on clear decal film on a white or pale colour backing media. As appropriate to the product concerned, vinyl decals may be printed on clear 50-micron vinyl; white 70-micron vinyl; metallic gold vinyl; 100 microns 'reflective' vinyl, etc. 6. Packaging of Decal Sheets for Shipment Decal sheets are normally packaged in resealable cellophane bags and then placed in an appropriately sized (C5 or B4) rigid cardboard envelope for mailing.Marked "Do Not Fold", the rigid cardboard envelope provides a significant level of protection against many types of damage to decal sheets. We will not ship decal products in flimsy paper envelopes in an attempt to save on PP&H cost. Ultimately, it is a false economy: with or without a cardboard insert, we had too many complaints about products being damaged. 7. PP&H, Tracking, Insurance and Signature-On-Delivery Please note that we do not consolidate multiple Orders ... nor do we refund multiple shipping charges. If you place multiple Orders for 2 or more of our products, we are required to ship them as separate Orders. If you wish to order 2 or more different decal products, then you should use eBay's "ADD TO CART" button ... and not the "BUY NOW" button. __________________________________________ There is a belief by some that "postage" is somehow the cost of stamps only and that we should use a flimsy paper envelope to ship our products. There are however multiple costs that go into "PP&H" (Post, Pack & Handling). Some of these costs include the eBay and PayPal fees we pay on the PP&H charged, the heavy card envelopes we use, the resealable cellophane wrappers that protect against moisture, the minimum cost of $2.70 in stamps, … We use the higher cost Priority Post as standard within Australia after AusPost started taking 6-10 business days (or more) to deliver standard mail … and (unsurprisingly) clients complained. And, the last time I checked, if we were to use eBay Services for PP&H, the minimum cost to us by eBay was $8.40 ... before we add mailer, cellophane, our time, etc. So we actually provide MORE and a LOWER cost. Custom Hobby Decals provides a premium product that we intend will be delivered in a timely manner, in good condition, ready to be immediately used._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ As standard, we ship Australia-wide via Priority Post for (usually) delivery within 2-3 business days (instead of the now seemingly standard 6-10+ business days for ordinary mail). Unless specifically requested otherwise, we ship internationally via standard international AirMail … which does NOT include Tracking, Insurance or Signature-on-Delivery. Australia Post (and other postal authorities) quote a typical delivery time of "approx. 6-10 business days for delivery to most countries. Whilst we have had reports of a quicker delivery, most shipments arrive within that timeframe. Some do not, taking 10-15 business days. Very occasionally more. (the record is currently 3 months) * Please note that once we ship an item, we are not responsible for, and can not be held accountable for, the actual delivery time is taken. That responsibility and liability actually reposes with the carrier. * Please also note that Tracking, Insurance and Signature-on-Delivery are -- NOT -- offered or available for Priority Post within Australia or for shipments via standard international AirMail. These facilities are available, however … as an extra cost item. Should you desire any of these facilities, please contact us prior to placing your order. Once an order has been shipped (eg envelope photographed after being postmarked by AusPost ... and/or has been marked in eBay as 'shipped'), we do not and cannot accept any liability for the product(s) that are not delivered. That responsibility and liability actually reposes with the carrier. If you are not happy with this condition, please select a higher-cost postage option that includes Tracking, Insurance and/or Signature-on-Delivery. Insurance is only available when indicated by Australia Post for the postage option selected). 8. Warranty: Refunds Repairs & Replacement We fully comply with our obligations under Australian Consumer Law, and all Rights for 'repair, return or refund' provided therein. In general: • We will replace any item that was not printed correctly or that was otherwise damaged prior to shipment; • We are not liable for products damaged by Clients (eg by the use of solvent-based clear-coat solutions); • We are not actually liable for items damaged in-transit: that is (or should be) the responsibility of the carrier and/or shipping insurance (if applicable); (but contact us anyway and we'll try to work something out for you).Once payment is complete: exchange, replacement or return of product is at our sole discretion. (A fee may apply to any such transaction to cover our handling costs)You must contact us first in regard to any request for Refund, Return or Replacement: • any item sent for return must be undamaged and accompanied by all original packaging and a valid RA (Return Authorisation) number issued by DecalBiz Pty Ltd (T/A Custom Hobby Decals); • Shipping, Postage, PP&H and any associated fees & charges are not refundable; • The Customer is responsible for return shipping; • A shipping Tracking Number must be provided for all products returned for Refund, Repair or Replacement, to assist with confirmation that the product has been returned; We are not liable for Refund, Return or Replacement of product due to "buyer's remorse" or any oversight, error, mis-judgement, etc by the Customer when placing an Order.(That said, if you've got a problem ... try contacting us anyway: we are open to assisting any case of genuine hardship). _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A. Printers & Printing CHD currently operations 2 commercial wide-format printers from a very reputable manufacturer. We do NOT print our decals using: * ALPS printer (Only 600 x 600dpi print plus the high likelihood of pixelation and lack of colour definition) * Office Inkjet printer (Translucent colours only on clear media. No White. Must be sealed before placing in water) * OKI CMYW Laser printer (Only 600 x 600dpi print plus no K = Black Toner cartridge == > can be 'not great' quality print with 'dark muddy-brown' colour for black) * Uninet CMYW Laser printer (Only 600 x 600dpi print plus no K = Black Toner cartridge == > can be 'not great' quality print with 'dark muddy-brown' colour for black) One of our printers is designed more for faster production work, providing high quality, high-resolution print (900 x 900dpi), using CMYK + Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Light Black and WHITE inks. Our second printer is a more specialised unit, again providing high quality, high-resolution print (720 x 1440dpi), using CMYK, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, WHITE and METALLIC inks PRE-CUT DECALSMost of our decals are supplied with the decal film pre-cut, typically 0.5mm outside of the artwork. This provides decals that are easier-to-use and generally provide a better finish on the model. D. HOW-TO Instructions: Waterslide Decals Custom Hobby Decals uses a 4th generation premium decal film that is very resilient and resistant to damage when handling. It is easy-to-handle, position and fixes in place. Our previous media (generations 1 to 3) was very optimised for our pre-cut process. As such, whilst it was still a 'quick release film', the decal media would not easily slip-off the backing media like 'traditional' waterslide media. Our 4th Gen film retains all of the positive features of previous generations, but a revised adhesive allows Hobbyists to use either the process outlined below, or instead use it as per 'traditional' media. Particularly when dealing with small to very small decals, we normally recommend the following process:place section of media in water for a slow count of 5 (if left too long in the water, the decal film will likely separate from the backing sheet ... and lack adhesion when placed on the model)remove from water and shake to remove any excess;use a pair of fine-nose tweezers, pick the edge of a decal - where we have pre-cut the decal film - to gently lift the decal from the backing media.with a little water on the receiving surface, position the decals as required. Add more water if the further movement is required. (Some people prefer to use decals setting solution instead of water. Both techniques are normally quite reliable and it is therefore likely a matter of preference rather than? best technique?.)once positioned, use the edge/corner of tissue to wick away any excess water;apply decal setting solution and leave for 1 - 5 minutes. We generally recommend Gunze 'Mr Mark Setter' and 'Mr Mark Softer'. Tamiya 'Mark Soft' & 'Mark Fix' and Microscale 'Micro Sol' & 'Micro Set' have also tested as quite effective. Not all waterslide decal media has the same composition and certain decal setting solutions are designed for other media. As such, they are quite ineffective with our waterslide media. You should therefore always test for compatibility if choosing to use another brand to those referenced above.allow the decal setting solution some time to react with the decal film;once a decal has been treated with decal setting solution, do -not- attempt to move or reposition it, as damage may result.again use the edge/corner of tissue to wick away any excess solution;use a balled-up tissue to gently but firmly press the decal onto the surface to both remove air bubbles and to promote conformance to a non-flat surface;allow to dry, then apply a suitable clear-coat.Our decals have been successfully tested with most clear-coat solutions currently available. The specific exception to this is any solvent-based product, such as 2-pack automotive. Such products will damage or destroy our decals as they are printed using solvent-based inks. As mentioned, you will find our deals offer considerable resistance to damage but are _very_ conformable when correctly treated with decal setting solution. Please do not hesitate to contact us immediately should you have any questions regarding the above, or any other matter concerning our decals or services.
