Description: Charlotte Rhead A.G. Richardson Crown Ducal "Tudor Rose" Charger, 4300, c. 1930s This charger/wall plate was designed by Charlotte Rhead for A.G. Richardson's Crown Ducal line. The pattern was adapted from the very popular "Persian Rose" pattern (4040). This charger dates to the period from roughly 1935 to 1936. It features nicely tube-lined blue, purple and red roses in a floral motif, with a geometric center medallion, on a white colored ground. The reverse side is also in white. This is in the less common (and more difficult to find) alternate colorway, with the leaves filled in grey lustre, and alternating grey and bronze dots around the exterior rim. Dimensions: 12-3/4" in diameter x 1-5/8" high; the base is 6-3/8" in diameter. This is in excellent original condition, with no chips, cracks, repairs or other damage, and overall very fine surface crazing to the gloss overglaze. Marked on the bottom with a "Crown Ducal/Made in England" backstamp. Also marked in slip with the pattern number "4300", "CRhead H" and "AF 47".
