Description: Here is for sale a CDV photo of Charles Lapostolet (1824-1890)French landscape painter Charles Lapostolet is a pupil of Léon Cogniet. He befriends Eugène Boudin whom he met in Honfleur. A painter of seascapes, his compositions are inspired by those of Dutch painters of the 17th century: a first body of water, a strip of land and the sky, a clear palette, colors of great finesse and a sensitive rendering of the light. He started at the Paris Salon of 1848 and exhibited there until 1882. He obtained medals in 1870 and 1882. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1872. Charles Lapostolet specializes in representations of ports. He especially painted the banks of the Seine between Honfleur, Rouen, Étretat and Dieppe. He also traveled to Venice and Holland. Some of his works have been translated into etchings by Léonie Valmon. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.
