Pabst Arizona/ California (b.1950) This painting is an original oil on canvas and depicts a rocky mountain range in Arizona's dessert. The painting is titled "Spring Squall". There are big white billowing clouds within an ominous blue sky. The clouds to the right have a illuminated pinkish tinge as well as the rocky face of the mountain range, highlighting in an array of colors. The areas of grassland show sheep grazing in the distance, these tones of green and contrasting colors really make the landscape pop. It is signed lower right "Charles H. Pabst" The frame is molded driftwood type with linen liner, it retains a plaque that reads "Spring Squall, Charles H. Pabst" Arizona artist, Charles H. Pabst came to Arizona from northern California, where he was born and raised in Santa Clara Valley, California. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Fine Arts and then decided to remain in Arizona working as a commercial artist for seven years. In 1978 Charles began painting full time as a fine artist. Primarily a landscape artist, Pabst depicts the beauty of the American West. For subject matter Charles travels throughout the Southwest with his family to explore, photograph and paint the diverse panorama of the west.
