Charles Guiteau - RARE Ink Signature - Assassin of President James A. Garfield

Description: Charles Julius Guiteau [1841 1882] was an American who assassinated President James Garfield, the 20th president of the United States. In 1881, Guiteau believed he had played a major role in Garfield's election victory, for which he should have been rewarded with a consulship. After repeated rejections by the Garfield administration he decided to kill the newly elected president. On July 2, 1881, Guiteau, waited for the president as the Sixth Street Station of the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad, where he shot the president twice with a revolver, once in the back and once in the arm. The president would survive his wounds for 80 days and died on September 19, 1881. In January of 1882, Guiteau was sentenced to death for the crime and was hanged five months later on June 30, 1882. Listed for auction is the rare autograph of the president's assassin, Charles Julius Guiteau signed on a page. The autograph is signed ''Charles Guiteau'' in black ink and the page measures 3.75 x 2.25 inches. The page has trivial toning, a small crease bottom right corner which does not affect the signature, otherwise in fine condition. The autograph is authentic, bold and will be a desirable addition to any presidential collection. Dear Collector, we are regularly adding autographed framed displays to our eBay Store.
