This highly-select, jungle-captured orchid species has been grown, divided, and passed along for 123 years!! Here's your chance to own both history and beauty all on one cedar slab! This orchid comes from a VERY bright and frequently quite dry region of coastal Venezuela. The last photo is of the countryside there and you cannot find a tropical, wet, jungle anywhere in sight! The temps can swing 20+ degrees F per day. In our Central Florida area, we give it full sun and let it enjoy the weather! The rainy season may challenge it a bit here, but our dryer, cooler winters are perfect growing conditions, causing this plant to put up its beautiful, fragrant flowers every spring! This species is very temperature tolerant, but it MUST have LIGHT!! to flower well. Watering happens only once the roots have dried off completely, and then it's a strong SOAK with water. If the root tips are green, it would relish a light bit of fertilizer in its drink that morning...weakly weekly is a good thing to keep in mind.This plant is a two-lead division; it should flower on its next growth(s). Your new orchid will be shipped strongly attached to its rot-proof cedar plaque where it seems to be extremely content! We do NOT use heat packs in our shipping as we find they will sometimes "cook" an orchid in transit.
