Description: Authentic Native Canadian carved wood totem by Eric Williams (initials on base). Pre-owned and in very good condition. Measures10 inched tall x 4 inches wide and deep at base. The actual totem is 3 inches wide/deep and 4 inches wide at top headdress. Come with a document about the family from Hill's Indian Crafts, Vancouver. The Williams Family is part of the NUU-CHA-NULTH Community ("People Along the Islands"), located along the western coast of Vancouver Island. Prior to becoming expert wood carvers, the Williams were whalers. Their distinct style has been passed down three generations. There are five (5) face-motifs on this totem painted in red, white green and black. The top is a painted wood carved headdress-plume of feathers in same colors. Each carved motif represents the numerous crests found within the 12-member Williams family of which seven who now carve on a full- time basis. Kept in a smoke free, cat free home.
