Descriptive text from separate pages at the back which cannot be supplied (subject to any spelling errors due to the OCR program used) A DOG SLEIGH IN THE HUDSON'S BAY TERRITORY. An odder coach-and-four than that represented could hardly be seen anywhere in his Majesty's wide dominions; but the trapper of the Hudson's Bay Territory must travel when the snow is on the ground, horses are out of the question, and the reindeer has not yet found its way as a draught animal to the North American continent. The faithful dog, therefore, is compelled to undertake the business, and, like everything he does, he does it well. Luckily the loads are light, the dogs are strong, and the smooth snow offers little resistance to the runners of the seigh. A good dog is a good dog always; but it must be admitted that these bard-working animals are, as a rule, more remarkable for their nunctual performance of duty than for their amiable qualities, and, as a pet, the sleigh-drawing dog has not the position of his brethren in lower latitudes.
