Description: For sale is this cabinet card portrait photograph of a woman in a slight profile. She is wearing dark rimmed eye glasses. But the piece de resistance is an absolutely fabulous turban hat! Seriously, Carnak the Magnificent (Johnny Carson) would have been very envious. It has swirls and beading but the show-stopper is the two quarter-moon shaped, bejeweled decorations in the middle. The hat is large. Otherwise, she is dressed in a pleated dark blouse with a lace trim at the neckline. She is wearing a small link chain with a small pendant. Nothing detracts or pulls your attention away from that hat. I think her facial expression is just daring someone to make a comment about her hat. The card measures 5.5" wide by just over 8" tall. The photograph image is 3.5" wide by 5.5" tall. The photograph seems to be adhered to a cream ruffled edge perimeter border that raises the photograph off the actual cardboard mount. Very interesting. The photograph mounting has a functional stand that can be used or not. The photography was done by the Shipley Studios located in Blackwell, Oklahoma. A word about the date of this item. Blackwell, Oklahoma came into existence in September of 1893. Oklahoma became a state in 1907. Up until statehood, Blackwell, was in what was designated Oklahoma Territory. Since this cabinet card styled item has Blackwell, Oklahoma rather than Blackwell, Oklahoma Territory, I assume that the photography occurred sometime in or after 1907. By 1910, the US Census information stated that Blackwell had a population of 3,266 people. Vintage Found Original Cabinet Card Style. In good used vintage condition.
