Description: " Christmas Greetings from Cairo " " Dr. William E. Chenery " Original photograph print. 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" Printed on cardstock paper. Dr. William E. Chenery, wearing his traveling suit, with hat & sunglasses , at Cairo Egypt. He is riding a camel ( with lead held by his Egyptian guide ) and is posed before the massive Great Pyramid of Giza . A bit of silvery paint was added as a highlight to the camel's saddle blanket decoration , and Dr. Chenery's sunglasses. Though not dated, this appears to have been made circa 1925. ( the discovery of King Tut 's tomb in 1922 had sparked a huge resurgence of interest in Egypt and its ancient history )-------- Dr. William Elisha Chenery , born June 14, 1864 , was an 1887 graduate of Boston University . He was an otologist and laryngologist , and was on the faculty of Tufts College Medical School ( Boston , Massachusetts ). It seems he was also something of a world traveler - and wanted his friends and associates to know it! He died on January 3, 1949 and was buried at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge , MA.-------- Condition Damaged, as seen in the photos, with creasing, loss at the corner, etc. Condition issues, but a great antique photo!
