Description: This is a large heavy book that is only volume 1 of a 2 volume set published by J.S. Virtue & Co. of London around 1870s-1880s. It's roughly 14.5 inches tall so is large, and weighs 12 pounds. The Works of Shakspere (Shakespeare), Imperial Edition edited by Charles Knight with illustrations on steel. Marbled page ends on the outside and bookends and flyleafs of similar marbling. Even though it's only the one volume (this having the comedies and histories, this one actually has all it's full page illustrations still in there and attached. Some are beautiful. It looks like there are 25 full page ones counting the frontispiece, plus a vignette on the title page. The cover has some excessive wear incluing splitting on the leather spine and much rubbing wear and soiling. The pages are pretty nice overall, just a little age yellowing. This will be more clear than the digital photo shows. The high bidder is to pay for the media rate postage, ebay calculates that for you, international shipping will be much more, sorry but the P.O. drastically increased postage for international packages.
