Description: Handwritten ManuscriptMusician/Cobbler/MercantileNew York CityConnecticutc.1830 Interesting assemblage of loose papers, long oblong pages, 28 of them filled-in, about 4 x 12 inches, written on all sides, with a curious and creative give and take between a passion for music and the need to make a living seemingly at a store/mercantile and by being a shoemaker as well (in Connecticut). Along with weather reports and more. "I was at school at Torrington 1818" shows up along with dates 1828, 1829, 1830. "In the summer of 1828 I went to Yonkers and spent the summer months. Returned to New York went to Board with Halsey in Church Street...." He travels about New York (Lower East Side streets make a sweet appearance), New Jersey, speaks of going to New Orleans. Store and shoemaking in CT it seems. Music - a great deal about harmony, modulation, cadences, concert at a church, &c. Business - payments from many for shoemaking and mending along with mercantile items - Gallon of molasses, Sugar, Rice, Tea, Needles, Crackers. A few regular customers, mostly the Harlbut family - Leonard, Silas, Elizabeth. One customer listed as a "Negro Boy" Others include a Bronson, Dudley Chace, Mr. Bragg. Worn and stained. One-of-a-kind. Please see the many photos. ******We ship swiftly and with safety in mind.Thank you.
