Description: This listing is for the c. 1940 American WPA Regionalist Cityscape w/ Cars Painting pictured above. About this work: A wonderful circa 1940 regionalist townscape/cityscape with cars and architecture. This unusual composition depicts several rows of repeating motifs, including townhouses, trees, cars, and lampposts. An Esso gas station is visible at the bottom of the road in the middle of the composition. Completed in a modernist style, the work is signed in the lower right, but I wasn’t able to decipher it. The work is a gouache & ink on board. It is housed in a distressed style wood frame. Provenance: Private collection, PA Size: 10 inches tall by 20 inches wide (painting) 14.5 inches tall by 20.25 inches wide (frame) Condition: Scattered surface abrasions, small losses, and light surface stains. Some craquelure to heavier impasto areas. Distressed style frame with wear commensurate with its age. This work will be carefully packed and shipped with insurance and signature confirmation. Free local pick up is also available. International buyers - please note I cannot lower the declared value of the package for customs. I frequently receive messages from people after I sell an item, asking if it is definitely gone. If something catches your eye, don't hesitate to inquire! Feel free to ask any questions.
