Description: This is a set of hand painted porcelain that looks for all the world like Lenox Belleek. The set looks like the work of Ott & Brewer or Willets. The pottery has that soft warm ivory glaze, silky to the touch. There is added hand painted gold decoration that matches on each piece. The decoration has an Arts and Crafts feel about it, perhaps with a hint of Asian influence. The cups are eggshell thin, very delicate and their rounded shape reminds me of bubbles. Some of the pieces in the set, the creamer and the larger plates, are marked Hutschenreuther and others J&C Bavaria, still others are not marked. Both Hutschenreuther and J&C Bavaria are of course German makers. Many of the pieces in this set have had their marks over-stamped by the decorator. I am not sure if the decorator is German or American. It is a mark I am unfamiliar with. The mark used by the china painter depicts a artist's palette and the name Ulmer Studio. The set includes 6 cups and saucers, six 6" plates, six 7 3/4" plates, a creamer, and a 9" platter. All of the pieces are in excellent condition. There is just a tiny bit of wear to the gold on the platter.
