This fabulous Victorian Davenport Desk will break down into two pieces for transport and the individual measurements are: - Top Mirrored Gallery Section 24 ½” in height, 29 ¼” in width and 7 ¼” in depth - Base Section with Desk 32” in height, 31” in width and 22 ¼” in depth The top of this lovely desk is graced with a removable fancy scroll and vine pierced carved gallery with gorgeous floral foliate marquetry inlay work, two beveled edge top shelves with turned shelf supports, and has a center original beveled mirror encased in fluted moulding. A lovely rich red felt lift-top writing surface opens to reveal a large storage compartment along with five slotted compartments and two dovetailed tiger maple drawers with wooden pulls. Burl accents are found on the front of this compartment as well as throughout this gorgeous desk. This front compartment does have an intact lock (no key) and a brass key escutcheon. Next, two dovetailed extra-long side drawers on the right side of the desk provide additional storage opportunity. These drawers have burl accents, brass pulls, intact working locks and a tasseled key. You will notice that for symmetry purposes, the left side of the desk is adorned with the same burl panel accents that are found on the right side drawers. Additional details on this handsome desk include incised floral foliate and geometric carvings on the sides encasing the drawers, beautiful turned legs that match the shelf supports that are found on the top of the removable gallery, a handsome large bottom tray-type display shelf encased in pierced moulding all around, and elegant carved feet with hidden brass castors for ease of movement.
