They are partially in the ground and will be freshly dug when purchased. It will be shipped in a biodegradable container that can be planted directly into the ground without disturbing the root system. The Bur Oak tree is one of the toughest/durable trees in the oak family. They will grow to about ~75' tall and are one of the good fall foliage. They do well in partial shade and full sun. They appear in a variety of geographies from hills to low lands and can tolerate a wide variety of soils. The Bur oaks produce a huge acorn close to the size of a golf ball which makes the different from every other oak. They produce acorns on an annual basis where as the red oaks do not. They are also resistant to most any pest or disease. Deer love the acorns and will pass by the Red Oak acorn in favor of the Bur Oak acorns. This is one of the most sought after oak trees because of its' unique leaves and acorns.
