Description: This is a rare "Playgram" playbill (with four ticket stubs) from the Original Off-Broadway production of the Improvisational Entertainment "THE PREMISE" at the Premise Theatre in New York City. (The production opened November 22nd, 1960 and ran for 1249 performances.) ..... In 1954, THEODORE J. FLICKER became a member of Chicago's Compass Theater, America's first theater of Improvisational Comedy, a sub-genre he founded with fellow comedy pioneer ELAINE MAY. When "The Premise" premiered in 1960, New York theatregoers enthusiastically accepted the newest form of dramatic entertainment - Improvisational Theatre. Many of the scenes performed were the result of audience suggestions and others were plucked from the current events of the day. The only thing certain was that no two performances would be exactly the same ..... CONDITION: With the exception of slight discoloration, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
