Description: Fabulous piece of Brush Fire Pottery! This colorful handmade ceramic platter was made in the studio of John and Noelle Verling, owners of Brush Fire from 1973 until the early 21st century. Their studio was located in Gurteenakilla - West Cork, Ireland. This oblong platter is totally indicative of the Verling style with its oceanic feel...a handpainted abstract - organic lobster fills the inside. Signed on the bottom BRUSH FIRE 2001 Handmade in Gurteenakilla West Cork, Ireland Measures: 15" long X 10.25" wide X 1.5" tall Lovely condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is slight expected age related ceramic crazing throughout and pottery making and firing occlusions. Photo # 8 is not a white spot/it is the glossy shine. The rim is pinched at that spot (artist created). Please see all photos and reach out if you have any questions PRIOR to purchasing. About the artists John and Noelle Verling: The Verlings are known for their highly individual decorated ceramic ware and being part of a workplace of many dynamic artists. They were early arrivals in the Ballydehob artsy community – in 1973 – and took over the Gurteenakilla pottery from Christa Reichel and Nora Golden. Their ceramics are a combination of Noelle’s potting skills and John’s artwork. Each piece is unique. John and Noelle were founder members of the Cork Crafstmen’s Guild and contributed much of their time to the running of the organisation. John died in Ballydehob in 2009, and Noelle lives in Durrus.
