Description: BRUCKNER: Vienna Symphony Orchestra, HENRY SWOBODA Symphony No.6 A Major, 150th Psalm, 112th Psalm 2xLP TEST PRESSING UK 1952(?) (Nixa) GOOD/VG+/VG+ INFORMATION: One & only UK pressing TEST PRESSING set from the early 50s. Recorded & released in the USA only in 1950, the UK pressing followed shortly afterwards. There is no STEREO version of this particular recording. This is the first commercial recording of the Symphony No. 6. Recorded 1950 / Henry Swoboda and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.The recording was done by Westminster where Henry Swoboda was a co-founder and co-owner. Technically this early Westminster recordings where superior and the label became popular among the growing community of audiophiles. Early Nixa releases were pressed by the Decca pressing plant. Nixa was the second company, after Decca, to release LP records in Britain (at the time, EMI was attempting to promote 45 rpm records over 33 LP records). The record label, which traded as Nixa Records, was acquired by Pye Records in 1953. This recording was released somewhere between 1950 and 1953. CONDITION: Both sleeves are pretty scruffy with some laminate missing, & some pieces of the flipbacks are missing too. Few small splits in the sleeve, & creases. Both vinyl have some light marks, but nothing serious. Probably your only chance to get a complete test pressing set of this 70+ years old release!
