Description: Brooklyn, NEW YORK CITY - Prospect Park - Ocean Parkway Entrance: Prospect Park is a 585 acres (237 ha) public park in the New York City borough of Brooklyn located between Park Slope, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Ditmas Park, Windsor Terrace and Flatbush Avenue, Grand Army Plaza and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It is run and operated by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and is part of the Brooklyn-Queens Greenway. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux after they completed Manhattan's Central Park. In the 1890s, the eminent architect Stanford White (1853-1906) devised a plan to enhance Prospect Park and its environs with sculpture. This Divided Back Era (1907-15) postcard shows the entrance to the Park at Ocean Parkway. Framing the entrance are statues of the Horse Tamers by Frederick MacMonnies, which was dedicated in 1899. As in evidence is a policeman in period uniform entering the park. The card is in good condition but shows some edge wear. PSC Co. No. 63023.
