Lucille Friedland was an award winning artist known for her abstract, large-scale, bronze sculptures, bas-relief sculptures in bonded aluminum, water color paintings, oil paintings, and custom made designer jewelry. Starting her career in art with a Masters Degree in Fine Art and Art Education, from Columbia University in 1938, Lucille Friedland participated in more than 30 exhibitions all across the United States, including juried exhibits at the Summit Art Center, and the Nabisco Gallery with one women shows at the Winchell Gallery in NYC, the Newhouse Gallery, the Somerstown Gallery and the Dan Werner Art Gallery. She was awarded the Mitzi Newhouse Prize for Sculpture at Palm Beach , Florida . Her work is also in the permanent collections of the New School in NYC and Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport , Conn. Her life size bronze sculpture titled, Big Stride, stands at the entrance of The College of Staten Island in NYC, and is also prominently displayed at the Florida Atlantic University in Florida .
