For your consideration is this beautiful, hand painted ceramic bisque porcelain figurine of a well-dressed young man sitting on a stump with an open bird cage. This figurine belonged to my aunt and has been in long-term storage for at least the past 10 years. Please note, I did not attempt to wash the figurine prior to preparing this listing so it is being offered in "as found" condition and in need of a washing. The figurine weighs approximately 7.0 ounces by itself and stands approximately 5.50" tall, 2.75" across at the base and 2.25" wide. There are two mold holes on the very bottom of the figurine measures approximately 2/16" in diameter. The figurine has no markings that identify the maker of the piece but I believe, based on other similar figurines I found on the internet, the piece was made in Japan sometime back after WWII to early 1950's. The bisque porcelain figurine has a myriad of colors that include white, black, blue, green, brown and purple. The figurine features a young man sitting on a stump holding an opened bird cage. Please refer to the description photos to confirm the condition of the figurine and for more details about what I have described. Please note, this figurine once had a small bird in the young man's right hand. Obviously, the figurine depicts the man "releasing" the small bird from his cage and captivity. Unfortunately, the aforementioned notwithstanding, the small ceramic bird was broken off and ultimately lost decades before the piece came into my possession. Despite the loss of the bird, there is no serious damage to the man's right hand and the figurine still displays beautifully for what it is. Please refer to description photos # 6 and # 7 for close up images of where the noted bird once was and for more details about what I have described. Overall, the figurine remains in good condition and, with the exception of the noted missing bird, shows no other signs of having any damage, repairs, cracks, chips of any sort. As can be verified in the description photos, all the colors remain vibrant and the figurine is very detailed. This is a very nostalgic looking piece of bisque porcelain that displays wonderfully.
