Description: A nice set of antique Weidlich Brothers bookends of a flower basket girl. Embossed "Springtime" on the front of the base. Embossed on the back is the maker's mark (WB in a shield) with the numeral 638 below it. Listed in Kuritzky and De Costa's Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends (2006) on p. 117 (plate 653). The authors date the set to about 1930, give it a rarity value of 5 (Rare), and value the set at $95. MATERIAL: Gray metal or spelter, with a bronze-colored finish. A magnet does not stick. CONDITION: The bookends are in excellent condition, with their original finish and no discernible defects. The felts on the bottoms are replacements. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT: Each bookend is approximately 5" tall, 3.5" wide, and 2.5" deep at the base. The bookends are quite heavy for their size, weighing as a set 3 pounds, 13.3 ounces. The photographs are part of the description. Please examine them carefully, using the magnifier. SHIPPING: The bookends will be shipped bubble-wrapped in a USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box, the cost of which is $18.40. Buyer will pay for shipping. Please note that eBay collects state sales tax. I will accept returns only if I have described the bookends significantly incorrectly, but not otherwise, because of the shipping cost I would incur with a return. I do not ship to addresses outside the United States. Please see my seller feedback.
