Description: A pre-Civil War Southern American coin silver tablespoon in a King pattern variant, with pattern on the front, plain back, and shell drop, 8 1/4 inches long, engraved with a well worn three letter script monogram ("JSB"??)--possibly re-monogrammed or someone started trying to remove the existing monogram and stopped, marked BLISS & WHITTEMORE for John Bliss & Edwin Whittemore of New Orleans, Louisiana in business for a short time from 1833-1835, with a nick in the back of the end of the handle and a flat file mark along one edge on the back, otherwise in good antique condition without dents, breaks or repairs, 2.09 troy ounces.
