Description: Black Tourmaline crystal (likely Schorl) from China 15g. The first three photos are under ambient lighting conditions. The final photo shows the specimen with additional lighting by a flashlight to highlight the terminated crystal faces along with the excellent luster of this material. This specimen displays symmetry and forms characteristic of tourmaline. The only way it could be more spot on was if it was hemimorphic to fully display the 3m symmetry of tourmaline. An excellent compliment to a tourmaline slice if you would like to explore the optics of tourmaline as well.
