Description: 100+ guitar sets in stock, please check my other listings figured black limba guitar set, Backs irregularly shaped, about 8.1 wide at lower bout, 21.5 long , sanded to about 0.140 thick Sides, 32 long, 4.9 to 4.8 wide sanded to approximately 0.130 thick, a few saw marks still present. Listed as needing help as while these have unusally beautiful landscape or vine figiure, the plates have what I consider to be defects running thru them that look like lines of grain that are extra "open pored". There are also checks near the bottom very close touching pattern that may require repair. The lines I am pointing to in the photos are the exttra open pored lines. The plates are not cracked here, but I consider these areas to be weaker than the rest of the plates. It is very hard to describe, but I think the majority of the plate would benefit from ca glue flooding. These may not be cracks, but they are where the wood wants to crack, if that makes sense. I know they can't really be seen, but I also know they are there and require some extra support/work. There are several of these in this wood if you really look carefully(not really in the curved black landscape lines, but other lines), I almost think some thin epoxy soaked in and sanded away would make me feel safer if I were building this. This set came from a nearly 14 inch wide quartersawn board, and while the sides lack the black stripes, they are from exactly the same board, cut from right beside the backs Some small holes require fill in areas not unlike ambrosia maple. Several holes on each plate, supersize pics. The edges have not been jointed, as I have left them as wide as possible, some saw marks remain.
