Description: BLACK MASTIFF BULLDOG INKWELL w/ Ink-cup Black Forest Swiss Wooden Antique c1890 This Late 19th Century Black Mastiff Bulldog Inkwell: - depicts a Bust figure of a Mastiff or Bulldog; - is black in color (photographed in natural light, the photos appear lighter than actual color) - is well modeled and is made of wood carved in deep relief; - is carved in exquisite detail and has an excellent patina; - has glass paperweight eyes; - has a closed mouth, with a channel to hold a pen; the ears are down, and has a collar with four metal studs; - has a brass hinge back of the head, opens in the middle of the head behind the snout and below the eyes; - has an inset liner area, and includes the porcelain cup with gold rim to hold ink.
