These books are in good, complete, fresh condition with some wear and scuffs to boards and spine, tanned pages, foxing on just a few pages (see photos for worst examples), and no marks other than a prior owner's name stamped on the front endpapers of both volumes and a gift message in pencil dated Xmas '98 (presumably 1898) in Volume 1. Volume 2 has a very good binding and hinges and no tears. Volume 1 has a stressed front hinge, stress at the center of its binding, and a half title page that is trying to escape from the book.
