Description: Grouse of the North Shore By Gordon Gullion. Willow Creek Press, Oshkosh, WI. 1984. Inscribed and signed by the author. Lavishly illustrated with color photographs by Tom Martinson. The book is based on a long study of ruffled grouse biology and management, especially how the birds are affected by forest management. The study was enhanced by radio-telemetry, with birds carrying miniature radio transmitters. The lives of grouse are described throughout the year, from Spring, with drumming and nesting, through Summer with the growth of the brood, Autumn dispersal, and the survival of the birds in the Winter. Final chapters cover food, feeding, and predation. Hardcover book in Very Good-Plus condition. The book is bright, clean, tightly bound, and the pages are glossy and unmarked; owner’s signature on front flyleaf. Apparently unread. Cover is tight, with a little wear at corners and spine ends, and some rubbing on the back; gilt lettering is a little faded. 8 ¾ x 11 ¼ inches, 136 pages plus appendix and bibliography. [22835-2403] We wrap securely and ship promptly. The (human-written) description and pictures are from our actual book.
