Description: This is a hand-thrown Raku stoneware vase signed 'S. Young' on the underside. It has a wide shoulder with small mouth at the top, tapering to a narrow foot. The exterior features a wax resist technique of glaze application inflowing abstract patterning, showing the carbon trapping from the firing environment with copper flashing. A copper flashed round medallion is applied to one side. In less technical terms, this is a unique and very well made, high quality vase!
