Description: Thanks for visiting my listing. Up for auction, one unique Big Antique Brass Holy Medal featuring Saint Rosalia of Palermo, the Patron Saint of Pandemics. The piece is old and HEAVY, and has great surviving detail. I can’t find a country of origin marking, likely made in Italy. Gorgeous golden brass with handsome patina. High relief detail that is worn in areas from use. The piece looks like cast brass. Very thick, even the bale is very thick. A gorgeous quality old piece treasured for many decades. This piece is tough to date, the size of the medal is unusually large, but judging by the Saints, likely this is from late 1800’s/early 1900’s. Front features a detailed image of St Rosalia holding a small cross. Text states “ S ROSALIA V PAN ORD S BE”. Back features Saint Rose, text states “S ROSA VIRGO LI MFN”.
