The copyright date is 1981 and this is a first edition: the copyright page states "First Printing" and "First published in 1981 by Bert and I Books..." The book is in very good plus condition in a very good corner-clipped dustjacket, with grey boards, black titles and dark green endpapers. Synopsis - From the dustjacket: "Marshall Dodge and Bob Bryan began swapping Down East stories while students at Yale in the fifties. Their fascination with and appreciation for Maine and its people triggered the production of five "Bert and I" records, from which fourteen tales were selected for this book." Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings. Condition Details - The book has a square spine, a tight binding, and no marks, tears, or writing aside from a gift inscription on the first free endpaper that is too large to cover with a bookplate. The cover has sharp corners and very light edgewear, no soil or stains. The textblock edges are clean save for a few tiny spots on the top edge. The dustjacket (in new, protective Brodart) has light edgewear with toning to the spine and margins and a mild semicircular cupstain on the front panel. There is a 1/2 inch closed tear at the top of the spine, but no other tears or chips. The bottom corner of the front flap is neatly clipped. No unpleasant odors. I never use stock photos.
